In biology, mating (or mateing in British English) is the pairing of either opposite-sex or hermaphroditic organisms, usually for the purposes of sexual reproduction. Some definitions limit the term to pairing between animals, while other definitions extend the term to mating in plants and fungi. Fertilization is the fusion of both sex cell or gamete. Copulation is the union of the sex organs of two sexually reproducing animals for insemination and subsequent internal fertilization. Mating may also lead to external fertilization, as seen in amphibians, fishes and plants. For the majority of species, mating is between two individuals of opposite sexes. However, for some hermaphroditic species, copulation is not required because the parent organism is capable of self-fertilization (autogamy); for example, banana slugs.

The invention discloses a method for cultivating a mating line of a quaternary hybrid synthetic meat and service type Louchuan sheldrakes. The method mainly comprises the following steps: selecting Loumen ducks, Chaohu sheldrakes, mallards and Sichuan sheldrakes to form L-line, C-line, Y-line and S-line basic breeding duck groups respectively; crossbreeding male Loumen ducks and female Chaohu sheldrakes to breed Louchao sheldrakes, and breeding an LC synthetic line of Louchao sheldrakes with market medium weight and high eviscerated yield; crossbreeding male mallards and female Sichuan sheldrakes to breed wild Sichuan sheldrakes, and breeding a YS synthetic line of wild Sichuan sheldrakes with high service performance and high chest and leg meat rate; and crossbreeding the quaternary hybrid mating line LCYS from the LC synthetic line of parental male Louchao sheldrakes and the YS synthetic line of parental female wild Sichuan sheldrakes, and naming the mating line as mating line of Louchuan sheldrakes. The mating line of the Louchuan sheldrakes are meat and service type sheldrakes, and have the advantages that feather is sparrow feather, and 70-day-old commercial sheldrakes have body weight of higher than 1550 g, eviscerated ratio of higher than 72.9%, chest meat rate of higher than 13.6%, leg meat rate of higher than 13.8%, field swimming time rate of higher than 37.2%, and seed setting rate of duck rice of higher than 88.4%.
