The invention relates to a character input method of a computer, achieving the purpose of making a character input technology simple and efficient. According to the invention, characters are set on a keyboard in a manner of selecting more than one homophone in each pronunciation based on syllables, characters of 12 pronunciations are marked out in each key and all pronunciations are set by 36 keys. During character input, characters are typed in by orderly stroking numerical keys and character pronunciation keys.
