Air suspension is a type of vehicle suspension powered by an electric or engine-driven air pump or compressor. This compressor pumps the air into a flexible bellows, usually made from textile-reinforced rubber. Unlike hydropneumatic suspension, which offers many similar features, air suspension does not use pressurized liquid, but pressurized air. The air pressure inflates the bellows, and raises the chassis from the axle.

An air spring in a modern automobile suspension system plays an important role in improving automobile ride performance and handling stability as well as protecting roads and cargos. In order to effectively adjust dynamic stiffness of the air spring, a main air chamber is connected with a sub air chamber, and throttle valves on the channels of the main air chamber and the sub air chamber are changed. A control signal for stiffness adjustment is acquired by a multipath sensor and sent to a computer for processing; and after the signal is processed, an action command is sent, and the stiffness of the air spring is adjusted. But the response time lag of the control mode is slightly larger, and the cost is high. The invention aims at solving the difficult problems so as to develop a novel self-adaptive air spring capable of adjusting the dynamic stiffness in a pressure difference manner. According to the air spring, the throttling pressure difference on the channels of the main air chamber and the sub air chamber is controlled by directly using a pressure signal in an air bag, so that the effect of continuously adjusting stiffness is achieved. The throttle valves are controlled through the reverse impact pressure difference of the main air chamber and the sub air chamber, so that the impact on an automobile body from a bump is weakened. The air spring provided by the invention has the advantages of simple structure, quick and reliable response, low cost and convenience for adjusting static stiffness.
