Benefits of technology

This patented technology allows for better protection against environmental factors like salinity or alkalis during different stages of growth (early stage) on plants such as rice paddy roots. It works effectively with melatonins that are very lipid soluble molecules which make them difficult to pass through cell membranes without damaging their structure due to osmotic pressure differences between water inside and outside the root's environment.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patent relates to improving the ability of plants to resist environmental stresses such as drilling or excessive heat during harsh environments like those associated with salt alkkalic conditions. Existing techniques aiming at reducing negative side reactions caused by external factors may lead to reduced fertility due to lack of natural resources. Therefore, new ways must emerge from studying how melatonergens could help protect plants against harmful influences including salty acidity, nitrogen deficiency, low phosphorus levels, heavy metal accumulation, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Embodiment 1

[0034] Embodiment 1: the application of melatonin in alleviating mung bean seed saline-alkali stress

[0035] Select 360 plump and healthy mung bean seeds, specifically mung bean seeds with a hundred-seed weight of 6.23 g. First, sterilize the surface of the seeds with 70% ethanol for 3-5 seconds, then rinse the seeds repeatedly with sterile water for 3-4 times, and spray the treated seeds with salt ion concentration of 100 mmol / L, pH=9 Alkali mixed solution (S+A), saline-alkali mixed solution plus different concentrations (4 concentrations) of melatonin aqueous solution (S+A+MT) and sterile water were soaked for 12 h, and soaked in sterile water as the control;

Abstract

The invention relates to new application of melatonin to improving saline-alkaline stress resistance of plant seeds. A product taking the melatonin as an effective ingredient is applied to the plant seeds under saline-alkaline stress, and the melatonin is a compound with the high lipophicity and hydrophilcity and can get in and out of plant cells freely, so that the melatonin can play a role in plant tissues. The melatonin can be applied to the plant seeds under the saline-alkaline stress conveniently, can be used for promoting the germination rate and the germination potential and reducing the salt damage rate of the plant seeds under the saline-alkaline stress, and can be used for promoting the seed germination and seed vigor, so that the purposes of keeping a full stand of seedlings, strengthening the seedlings, and preventing the reduction of yield and quality, caused by the saline-alkaline stress, can be achieved.
