Benefits of technology

This patented technology allows an electronics supplying unit (ESU) to communicate wirelessly through its own power source(s). When attached to a shelf tagged object that moves along it's track, they use special equipment called a wireless signal transmitter/receiver system (WTRS), allowing them to send signals back from their tags without being physically connected by wires. These systems are used to determine where each item needs more electricity than others nearby when moving around within range. Overall, these technical features make sure ESU devices work properly even during long periods of nonuse time.

Problems solved by technology

Technological Problem addressed in this patented technical problem involves improving the efficiency and cost effectiveness of electronic shelf labelings used for displaying information through their use of electricity supplied through shelf bars. Existing solutions require significant physical space around them due to the high costs associated with these hardware components such as metal wires connecting the ESCs' rear sides to batteries. Additionally, existing designs have limitations caused by environmental factors like dirt accumulation over time causing damage or degradation.

Embodiment Construction

[0096] exist figure 1 A shelf label system 1 is shown in , comprising a plurality of electronic shelf labels 201 - 211 fastened at three "smart" shelf rails 3 . Each shelf rail 3 has electronic supplies 401-403 which are inserted laterally into the shelf rails. A data processing device is likewise shown, which is implemented by means of a server 5 which is connected in a cable connection to an access point 6 , which has, by way of example, two antennas 7 .

[0097] The shown supply means 401-403 are in radio contact with the access point 6 via a first radio signal F1. Thus, for example, the image content of the shelf labels 201 - 211 designed as shelf label displays can be changed from the server 5 , the associated status information can also be queried from the shelf labels 201 - 211 and transmitted to the server 5 if necessary, or the shelves can also be controlled or used. Additional consumers for labels 201-211 (said consumers are still image 3 be discussed) activities.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating an electronic shelf label system (1), said system having shelf labels (201-211) fastened to a shelf rail (3), said shelf labels being configured to be supplied with energy in a contactless manner, the invention relates to a shelf rail for a goods shelf, comprising a supply device (21) for contactlessly supplying energy to shelf labels fastened to the shelf rail, and comprising at least one wire loop (L), the wire loop being a component of the supply device of the shelf rail, the invention relates to a method for supplying energy to a goods shelf label positioned on a goods shelf rail corresponding to a line loop, and a line loop for outputting a signal that can be generated by the supply device for the purpose of the energy supply to the goods shelf label positioned on the goods shelf rail corresponding to the line loop, the signal being generated by means of the supply device according to the method, the signal is output via the wire loop, and a respective shelf label positioned in correspondence with the wire loop stores electrical energy transmitted from the supply device to the shelf label by means of the signal in a rechargeable long-term energy store, and using the electrical energy for operating the shelf label outside the time interval in which the signal is present.
