Abstract

The present invention discloses a system and method for displaying states of instant communication users. The system includes a plurality of clients, at least one Jabber server, at least one SIP server, and an additional state information module, for adding at least one Jabber state character identification of SIP state after the message of the state element, upon a state element of a state informing and subscribing element transmitting a state variation message. The identification is used to mark SIP state information, which can be recognized by a jabber server and is displayed by the user request. The identification includes at least one making field, at least one SIP status field, as well as at least one special message field. By re-analysis to on-line state character of the Jabber system, the system can realize display of the special status of the contacts, cab realize some especial function, and can greatly expand the functions of the client.
