Abstract

The invention discloses a neutral gear position identifying method of a mechanical automatic transmission. A gear selecting and shifting position sensor value of a gear selecting and shifting actuation mechanism controlled by double motors is compared with a neutral gear position value reset in a transmission electronic controller unit (TCU); and the method determines if a present state of the transmission is a neutral gear state according to the comparison result. When the transmission is judged to be not in the neutral gear position at present, the transmission gear selecting and shifting control and the clutch control are performed, so that a neutral gear of the transmission and the transmission neutral gear position confirmation control are realized. The method can accurately, quickly and reliably identify the neutral gear position of the transmission, guarantees start of an engine only when the transmission is in the neutral gear state, prevents the engine start danger of drivers due to gear engagement of the transmission, and prevents vehicle driving accidents.
