Benefits of technology

This technology helps diagnose problems with power systems caused by overvoltage or undercurrent events that may affect other equipment connected through an AC system. It involves analyzing both voltages at either end of each section of wires (DC) before they happen due to any damage from external sources such as lightning strikes). By comparing these measurements against predetermined thresholds, it becomes possible to distinguish between normal conditions and abnormal situations like surges or ground loops. Based upon this knowledge, appropriate protective measures could be taken based on factors like circuit design, component materials used, etc., resulting in improved reliability and efficiency of electrical devices.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patents relates to the lack of effective means to diagnose and locate fault areas within MMC'S/MHVSC transmission networks without affecting their safety reliability and stability performance. Current solutions involve complex calculations involving multiple phases and voltages, leading to difficulties in identifying and determining fault location.

Embodiment Construction

[0040] The present invention will be described in further detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

[0041] A kind of MMC-HVDC transmission line fault judgment method, such as figure 1 shown, including the following steps:

[0042] Step 1. Monitor the high-frequency DC voltage change rate on the DC side of the MMC-HVDC transmission line smoothing reactor in real time, and judge whether the DC voltage change rate is greater than the DC voltage change rate threshold. If it is greater, proceed to step 2, otherwise repeat step 1 .

[0043] Step 2. Through discrete wavelet analysis, extract the effective value of the high-frequency DC voltage on the DC side of the smoothing reactor of the MMC-HVDC transmission line and the effective value of the high-frequency DC voltage on the converter side, and judge the DC side of the smoothing reactor of the MMC-HVDC transmission line Whether the absolute value of the difference between the effective value of the high-freque

Abstract

The invention relates to an MMC-HVDC power transmission line fault judgment method. The method is technically characterized in that discrete wavelet analysis is adopted to extract effective values ofhigh-frequency voltages on a direct-current side and a converter side of a line smoothing reactor for comparison so as to judge internal and external faults. Then, a K-means clustering algorithm is adopted; voltage and current data of a single-side protection unit are acquired by using different fault types and different fault positions through a short time window after a direct-current line faultoccurs, clustering analysis is performed on the voltage and current data to obtain centroids and thresholds of the voltage and current data of the single-side protection unit, and corresponding protection criteria are determined through training so as to realize fault pole selection. The MMC-HVDC power transmission line fault judgment method is not influenced by the fault position and the transition resistance, the MMC-HVDC power transmission line fault can be rapidly and accurately detected, and the fault type can be identified.
