The invention relates to a method for secure computing and/or communication. An entangled photon (118) is generated such that each participant receives a series of light pulses. Each party has private information (110, 112) that is never transmitted over a public or private communication channel. Instead, each party converts its respective private information (110, 112) into a measurement basis by an encryption process (114, 116), and then applies the measurement basis to the entangled photons (118). After a measurement process, such as a quantum frequency conversion (122, 124), the reference index is published (124, 126) such that calculations can be performed (128) without directly or indirectly revealing private information.
