The invention discloses a method and device for importing and exporting contacts and belongs to the communication field. The method comprises receiving user identification and a data packet of users transmitted by a receiving terminal, wherein the data packet comprises configuration files and contact files corresponding to contact groups, the configuration files are used for storing the corresponding relationships between group identification (ID) of the contact groups and file ID of the contact files, and the contact files corresponding to the contact groups are used for storing the contact information of the contacts included in the contact groups; obtaining the group ID of the contact groups and file ID of the contact files corresponding to the contact groups from the data packet; obtaining the contacts and the contact information included by the contacts and obtained from the data packet according to the file ID of the contact files; storing the corresponding relationships of the user identification of the users, the group ID of the contact groups and the contact information of the contacts included by the contact group. By means of the method and device, the group information can be reserved.
