Embodiments of the invention provide a 3D cube mobile terminal desktop control method and system, and a mobile terminal. The control method comprises the steps of performing permutation and combination by dragging a plurality of virtual cubes, building at least one 3D virtual cube model, and storing the 3D virtual cube models in a model library; calling the 3D virtual cube models from the model library; and setting application icons on the exposed surfaces of the 3D virtual cube models, generating a 3D cube desktop with a 3D cube application model, and clicking different application icons to enter corresponding application interfaces. The permutation and combination are performed by dragging the virtual cubes; the 3D virtual cube models are built; a 3D magic cube is replaced with 3D cubes; various cubes can be generated to serve as carriers of the application icons; a user is supported to perform self-definition; and the user can perform free editing operation directly on the cubes in quantity, shape, permutation and combination, and appearance color style, so that personalized demands of the user are met.
