The invention provides a fault detection method and device for a pressure controlled drilling process based on slow characteristic analysis, which comprises the following steps of: acquiring first pressure controlled drilling data, carrying out normalization processing, whitening treatment and singular value decomposition on the drilling data, and calculating a change matrix, calculating the dominant slow characteristic and the residual slow characteristic according to the normalization data and the change matrix of the first pressure controlled drilling, and calculating the control limit of four statistical quantities on the basis of a given significant level; acquiring second pressure controlled drilling data in real time and carrying out normalization processing on the drilling data; calculating the dominant slow characteristic and the residual slow characteristic of the second pressure controlled drilling normalization data according to the normalization data and the change matrix,and calculating the four statistical quantities of the second pressure controlled drilling data according to the normalization data and the change matrix; comparing the four statistical quantities ofthe second pressure controlled drilling data with the control limits of the four statistical quantities, and analyzing the fault detection result of the pressure controlled drilling process accordingto the comparison result.
