The invention relates to a multi-CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) online upgrading method and a multi-CPLD online upgrading device, which are used for carrying out firmware upgrading on one ormore CPLDs, and the method comprises the following steps of: respectively configuring a type setting circuit for each CPLD, and marking a type numerical value of the corresponding CPLD; configuring an SPI interface for the CPLD; sending type information to the plurality of CPLDs through the SPI interface; after the CPLD receives the type information, judging whether the type values of the type information are consistent; if yes, enabling the connection between the internal memory of the CPLD and the SPI interface; downloading a CPLD firmware upgrading program, and writing the CPLD firmware upgrading program into the internal memory through the SPI interface. According to the method and the device, the existing main control unit, a plurality of CPLD and other hardware modules in the systemare utilized, online upgrading of one or more CPLD can be realized without adding a loading interface, a chip selection signal line and other connecting lines, and each CPLD can be flexibly configured.
