The invention discloses a plant leaf area index detecting method and system based on multi-sensor information fusion. The method comprises the steps that data synchronization between sensors is realized; a lidar sensor is used to scan the side of the canopy of a plant to acquire the two-dimensional laser point cloud data of the section profile of the plant canopy; the attitude angle of the lidar sensor is acquired through an inertial measurement unit, and the two-dimensional laser point cloud data are corrected according to the attitude angle; the positioning coordinate of the lidar sensor isacquired through a satellite navigation and positioning system; according to the positioning coordinate, the distance between two laser scanning points is calculated; the three-dimensional laser pointcloud image of the plant canopy is reconstructed by fusing the positioning coordinate and the corrected two-dimensional laser point cloud data; relevant parameters required for the leaf area index inversion calculation are acquired; a leaf area index estimation model is constructed; and the model is operated to acquire the leaf area index of the plant. Compared with the prior art, the method andthe system improve the influence of a bumpy road surface on measuring the leaf area index, and improve the leaf area index measuring efficiency.
