Abstract

The invention discloses a communication detection method and device, the method is applied to a user plane network element, the method comprises the following steps: determining an opposite end address having communication connection with the user plane network element, and determining a detection session according to the opposite end address; sending a detection message to the opposite end address through the detection session; determining a feedback state of the detection message; according to the feedback state, determining the communication state of the opposite end address, directly sending the detection message to the opposite end address through the detection session, and realizing communication detection of an address level according to the feedback condition of the opposite end address. Therefore, the problem that in the prior art, a communication path which does not support a GTP-U communication channel cannot be effectively detected is solved.
