The invention discloses a low-cost QSFP28 SR4 COB process optical module, which comprises a laser driving LDD for driving a laser device to emit light, and a trans-impedance amplifier TIA used for amplifying a current signal, wherein a vertical cavity surface laser array VCSEL Array is formed by four single-channel first optical chips connected with the LDD in space; and a photoelectric detector array PD Array is formed by four single-channel second optical chips connected with the TIA in space. The low-cost QSFP28 SR4 COB process optical module provided by the invention adopts a COB (chip onboard) process, uses four single 25G VCSELs (vertical cavity surface lasers) and four single 25G PDs (photoelectric detectors) to respectively replace one traditional four-channel 25G VCSEL Array (vertical cavity surface laser array) and one four-channel PD Array (photoelectric detector array), adopts the same application circuit, can reduce the material cost by about 15%, and in addition, can reduce the repair cost.
