Embodiment Construction

[0016] Please refer to figure 2 and 3 As shown, it discloses an axial flow fan for an engine cooling application according to an embodiment of the present invention, which is generally indicated by the figure number 10'. The fan structure 10' is arranged and fixed between a condenser (not shown) and a radiator 16 in a vehicle. The fan structure 10' includes a fan, generally indicated by reference number 12, which has: a circular hub (hub) 18, and several blades 20 are fixed on the hub 18 along the circumferential direction (circumferentially). In this embodiment, nine blades 20 are provided. The blades 20 may be evenly or unevenly spaced relative to the hub 18 . Each blade tip 22 is coupled to an annulus 24 concentric to the hub 18 . In this embodiment, the ring body 24 is generally L-shaped in cross-section. A motor 26 of the fan 12 is coupled to the hub 18 to rotate the hub and thus the fan 12 .

Abstract

A fan structure includes a fan having a hub, a plurality of blades attached circumferentially to the hub, and a ring, concentric with the hub, joining tips of the blades. A shroud of the fan structure includes a base having an upstream side constructed and arranged to face a radiator and a downstream side opposite the upstream side; an annular member extending generally transversely from the downstream side of the base and defining a generally central annular opening sized to accommodate the ring of the fan; and rim structure extending generally transversely from the upstream side of the base and disposed circumferentially around a periphery of an inlet of the fan so as to reduce radial airflow from entering the fan.

Description

[0001] This application is based on and claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 60 / 987,250, filed November 12, 2007, for priority purposes. 【Technical field】 [0002] The present invention relates to a fan configuration for driving gas, such as air, and more particularly to an engine cooling fan configuration for reducing overall fan noise. 【Background technique】 [0003] As engine and cabin noise requirements are reduced with the development of modern vehicle audio, engine cooling fan noise becomes increasingly important. [0004] During the development cycle, typical noise complaints include overall noise level and tonal noise content. The key tonal noise frequencies are blade pass frequency noise and its harmonics. It can be calculated by multiplying the first order operating frequency by the number of blades. The noise will spread to the cockpit and the front of the vehicle, creating a target sound that will offend most car owners. [0005] In engine co...
