The water floating tank for planting rice is a box body which is composed of a box bottom (1) and a lateral wall (2) of which the lower edge is connected with the periphery of the box bottom (1) and can bear load to float on the water, wherein the box bottom (1) and the lateral wall (2) are respectively composed of surrounding layers (11 and 21) and buoyancy plates (12 and 22); the surrounding layers (11 and 21) can penetrate water and gas and cannot penetrate soil; and the buoyancy plates (12 and 22) are coated inside the surrounding layers (11 and 21) and can bear load to float on the water. According to the water planting method of rice, the water floating tank for planting rice is adopted as a rice planting carrier; the water floating tank has the advantages that the water floating tank saves land resources, and saves manpower, material resources and time.
