In this example, a back light source 10 emits light toward substrate 40, which forms the base of a cover 45. In one embodiment, the substrate 40 is made of a transparent or translucent plastic resin, such as a natural polycarbonate or acrylic, that can be formed into a variety of shapes and sizes. Regardless of the specific material used in the substrate 40, the substrate 40 itself should allow at least some light to pass through it.
