A display device is an output device for presentation of information in visual or tactile form (the latter used for example in tactile electronic displays for blind people). When the input information that is supplied has an electrical signal the display is called an electronic display.

Method and apparatus for performing stereotactic surgery

ActiveUS20050049486A1Head electrodesSurgical navigation systemsStereotactic surgeryDisplay device
A stereotactic navigation system for navigating an instrument to a target within a patient may include a stereotactic head frame, an imaging device, a tracking device, a controller and a display. The stereotactic head frame is coupled to the patient and is used to assist in guiding the instrument to the target. The imaging device captures image data of the patient and of the stereotactic head frame. The tracking device is used to track the position of the instrument relative to the stereotactic head frame. The controller receives the image data from the imaging device and identifies the stereotactic head frame in the image data and automatically registers the image data with navigable patient space upon identifying the stereotactic head frame, while the display displays the image data.

Electronic Devices With Retractable Displays

An electronic device may have a pair of elongated housings. A flexible display may be placed in a first position in which the display is retracted within one of the housings and a second position in which the flexible display is deployed and extends between the housings in a planar shape for viewing by a user. Support structures such as rigid slats that run parallel to the housings and bistable slats that run perpendicular to the rigid slats may be used to support the flexible display. Speakers, microphones, cameras, and other components can be mounted in the housings. The housings may be held together using magnets and may contain electrical components such as integrated circuits, batteries, and other devices. The components may be mounted on printed circuit boards that rotate within a rotating roller around which the display is wrapped when retracted.

Stackable thermostat

The invention relates to a thermostat including a user interface module. The user interface module has a display, a plurality of user interface buttons, and a first power and communications interface. The thermostat also includes an I / O module, the I / O module electrically coupled to a HVAC plant and the I / O module having a plurality of switches to control the HVAC plant, and a second power and communications interface. The user interface module and the I / O module are communicatively coupled and exchange power via the power and communications interfaces and the thermostat can be mounted and operated in one of two user selectable installations: a stacked configuration comprising a thermostat having the user interface module directly mounted to the I / O module, or a remote configuration comprising a thermostat having the user interface module remotely mounted from the I / O module.

Touch display device and manufacturing method thereof

The invention discloses a touch display device and a manufacturing method thereof. The touch display device includes a touch screen base plate and a pixel array base plate, and further includes a first shielding layer and a second shielding layer. The touch screen base plate includes a touch control structure layer and output leads of the touch control structure layer (including drive electrode leads and induction electrode leads); the pixel array base plate is provided with a pixel array and peripheral leads of the pixel array; the output leads of the touch control structure layer and the peripheral leads of the pixel array are overlapped in the light transmitting direction; the first shielding layer is arranged between the drive electrode leads and the peripheral leads of the pixel array; and the second shielding layer is arranged between the induction electrode leads and the peripheral leads of the pixel array. The shielding layers reduce the parasitic capacitance between the peripheral leads of the pixel array base plate and the output leads of the touch control screen base plate, avoid the condition that drive electrodes and induction electrodes of the touch screen are coupled through the parasitic capacitance, and further improve the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio).

Method of manufacturing a cover of a backlit display using fluorescing materials

InactiveUS6905901B1Avoid passingAvoid choiceAircraft componentsInstrument arrangements/adaptationsFluorescenceDisplay device
A backlit display allowing one or more colors to be properly illuminated. Included in the backlit display is a light source that emits light upon a backside of a substrate. A selectively applied opaque layer prevents light from a light source from passing through at least one selected portion of said substrate. Incorporated into the substrate is one or more fluorescing materials to diffuse the light and / or change the color of the light emitted from the light source.

Brain-computer interfaces and use thereof

InactiveUS20130130799A1ElectroencephalographyInput/output for user-computer interactionVisual evoked potentialsDisplay device
A computerized method for decoding visual evoked potentials involves obtaining a set of brain activity signals, the brain activity signals being recorded from a subject's brain during displaying a set of targets on a display having a display frame duration, at least one target being modulated periodically at a target-specific modulation parameter and decoding a visual evoked potential (VEP) from the brain activity signals. The decoding includes, at least for the at least one target being modulated at a target-specific modulation parameter, determining a representative time track from the obtained brain activity signals, the representative time track having a length being integer multiples of the display frame duration, analyzing at least one amplitude feature in the representative time track, and determining a most likely target of interest or absence thereof based on said analyzing.
