Method and apparatus for providing or utilizing interactive video with tagged objects

InactiveUS20120167146A1Improve interactive experienceTelevision system detailsColor television detailsInteractive videoObject function
A method for utilizing interactive video with tagged objects may include generating video data that includes both video media and an interactive video layer, providing the video data to a remote user via a network, and enabling the remote user to present the video data with or without the interactive video layer based on user selection of an option to turn the interactive video layer on and off, respectively. The interactive video layer may include objects mapped to corresponding identifiers associated with additional information about respective ones of the objects. At least one defined selectable video object may correspond to a mapped object. The selectable video object may be selectable from the interactive video layer during rendering of the video data responsive to the interactive video layer being turned on, where the selectable video object has a corresponding object function call defining an action to be performed responsive to user selection of the selectable video object. A corresponding apparatus is also provided.

Interactive multi media user interface using affinity based categorization

InactiveUS7284202B1High communication latencyTelevision system detailsDigital data information retrievalThe InternetE-commerce
Computing devices capable of internetworking and receiving, storing and viewing programmed (scheduled) television and multimedia content provide a platform for access to a combination of Internet and Television content and services. On this platform, a mix of pre-scripted and live interactive dialog (chat with offered responses) are broadcast by a connected server or servers to provide supplemental entertainment, information regarding programmed content, enhancements to scheduled television advertising, a community experience, and an interface to Internet applications and services. The dialog provides a “Social Interface” allowing fictional and non-fictional characters to interact with viewers. The fictional and non-fictional characters are each emblematic of a specific affinity group categorization, which a user personally identifies with and is drawn to. Selection of an affinity character also provides a filter for selecting internet and broadcast content associated with that character. Second level content is also associated with and mediated by each character. This provides e-commerce opportunities whereby sponsors can direct advertising content based upon factors such as the relative popularity of each character or the demographic group associated with each character.

CMOS image sensor having wide dynamic range and sensing method thereof

ActiveUS20120033118A1Improve dynamic rangeWide dynamic range performanceTelevision system detailsTelevision system scanning detailsCMOSProcessing element
Disclosed are a CMOS image sensor having a wide dynamic range and a sensing method thereof. Each unit pixel of the CMOS image sensor of the present invention includes multiple processing units, so that one shuttering section for the image generation of one image frame can be divided into multiple sections to separately shutter and sample the divided sections by each processing unit. Thus, the image sensor of the present invention enables many shuttering actions to be performed in the multiple processing units, respectively, and the multiple processing units to separately sample each floating diffusion voltage caused by the shuttering actions, thereby realizing a wide dynamic range.
