8 results about "Bitstream" patented technology

A bitstream (or bit stream), also known as binary sequence, is a sequence of bits. A bytestream is a sequence of bytes. Typically, each byte is an 8-bit quantity (octets), and so the term octet stream is sometimes used interchangeably. An octet may be encoded as a sequence of 8 bits in multiple different ways (see endianness) so there is no unique and direct translation between bytestreams and bitstreams.

Video Codes with Directional Transforms

InactiveUS20110090954A1Color television with pulse code modulationPulse modulation television signal transmissionCoding blockContext based
An encoded video in the form of a bitstream includes a sequence of frames, and each frame is partitioned into encoded blocks. A context for decoding is selected for each encoded block. The bitstream is entropy decoded based on the context to obtain a transform indicator difference. The transform index, which indicates a transform type and a transform direction, is based on the transform indicator difference and a predicted transform indicator. Transform coefficients are obtained from the bitstream, and inverse transformed according to the transform index to produce a decoded video.

Acceleration of bitstream decoding

ActiveUS7286066B1Improve performanceReduce the number of executionsCode conversionParallel computingExecution unit
Described are methods and systems for variable length decoding. A first execution unit executes a first single instruction that optionally reverses the order of bits in an encoded bitstream. A second execution unit executes a second single instruction that extracts a specified number of bits from the bitstream produced by the first execution unit. A third execution unit executes a third single instruction that identifies a number of consecutive zero bit values at the head of the bitstream produced by the first execution unit. The outputs of the first, second and third execution units are used in a process that decodes the encoded bitstream.

Methods for delta-qp signaling for decoder parallelization in hevc

By implementing a new bitstream for a Delta-Quantization Parameter (DQP), a decoder is able to implement parallel decoding of multiple coding units within a largest coding unit. In some embodiments, the DQP is placed immediately after the mode information of the first coding unit. In some embodiments, the DQP is placed after the mode information of the first non-skipped coding unit. In some embodiments, the DQP is placed after the first non-zero coded block flag.

Image data encoding/decoding method and apparatus

Disclosed is an image data encoding / decoding method and apparatus. A method for decoding a 360-degree image comprises the steps of: receiving a bitstream obtained by encoding a 360-degree image; generating a prediction image by making reference to syntax information obtained from the received bitstream; combining the generated prediction image with a residual image obtained by dequantizing and inverse-transforming the bitstream, so as to obtain a decoded image; and reconstructing the decoded image into a 360-degree image according to a projection format.

Detecting sync patterns for optical media

InactiveUS7336572B1Television system detailsFilamentary/web record carriersComputer scienceOptical medium
A sync finder module for an optical medium playback device that generates a bit stream including sync patterns and data blocks comprises a pulse jitter detect module that receives the sync pattern, which includes a plurality of transitions each having a desired position in the sync pattern, that selects actual N-bit segments of the sync pattern at the desired positions and that compares the actual N-bit segments to at least one expected N-bit segment. A pulse verifying module communicates with the pulse jitter detect module and generates a verified signal if the expected N-bit segments match the actual N-bit segments.
