FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001] The invention relates generally to image processing systems and methods, and more particularly to image processing systems and methods for providing images to different types of displays. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0002] Image processing systems are known which may include for example, when implemented in the form of a laptop computer or handheld device, a central processing unit and graphics accelerator (e.g. graphics co-processor) and frame buffer memory that stores image frames of data that are displayed on a display screen. Many types of display devices require image processing to convert the image data from industry standard formats to the format required by the specific display technology.
