Abstract

The invention discloses a steam generation device and aims to provide a steam generation device provided with a water shortage detection device. The water shortage detection device judges precisely, has low cost, quick response and a long service life, and can remind a user to clean heating tubes so as to avoid heating without water. The embodiment of the invention provides the steam generation device which comprises a water distribution valve (1) and the heating tubes (2) which are transparent or partially transparent at the lower part, wherein the lower end of a lower electrode (21) of each heating tube (2) is provided with a light-emitting device (111) and a light sensitive element (121); and light emitted by the light-emitting device (111) is refracted by at least one of the heating tubes (2) and then reaches the light sensitive element (121) without passing through an axle center of the heating tube (2). The invention also discloses a household electric steam box which comprises the steam generation device.
