Abstract

The invention discloses a simple and efficient new rice variety breeding method comprising the following steps of: performing a process of seed soaking with drugs, bud forcing treatment, seedling raising, seedling pulling, single seedling planting, superior individual plant screening and threshing on segregating generations of seed rice; repeatedly performing the breeding process on the threshed seed rice generation by generation until a new variety with stable properties is bred; and after seedlings are pulled up, performing single seedling planting on strong seedlings with tillers. The simple and efficient new rice variety breeding method has the beneficial effects that a selection window for correlated characters and stress resistance of rice yield components moves forward, passive screening in a later period is changed to an active screening in a prior period, and thus the breeding effectiveness can be improved remarkably; and as the planting scales of selective nurseries can be reduced greatly, a great quantity of manpower, material resources and financial resources are saved, the breeding cost is reduced, and a remarkable result with half the work can be obtained. The simple and efficient new rice variety breeding method is suitable for breeding of new conventional rice varieties as well as male parents and female parents of hybrid rice, and thus the rice breeding process can accelerate comprehensively.
