AI Technical Summary

Benefits of technology

This patented technology uses small fragments from blood that are found in large amounts on our skin or other body fluids like urine. These tiny particles can be detected by analyzing them through mass spectrometry techniques called liquid chromatography (LC). They have unique properties - they stay stable even when stored at room temperature without losing their effect over time due to factors like pH changes during storage.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed by this patents relates to developing novel tools for detecting early stages of colitis caused by CRCs without causing significant harm during invasiveness procedures like endocardial surgery. Current techniques rely heavily upon visual inspections but they may miss smaller lesions at earlier time. To address this issue, there exists an urgent need for better ways to identify individuals who harbor signs suggestively positive evidence of advanced disease before undergoing radical resection.

Embodiment Construction

[0036] From 2013 to 2015, the inventor collected a large number of venous plasma samples from patients with colorectal cancer and normal physical examination population from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, and selected 139 cases of colorectal cancer and 132 cases of The normal control sample was used as the experimental sample for the initial screening of Exiqon miRNA qPCR panel chip and subsequent series of qRT-PCR verification. At the same time, 24 cases of colorectal cancer tissues and 24 cases of paracancerous tissues were retained. The selected patients' plasma samples were all from newly diagnosed patients who had not undergone surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy intervention and were pathologically confirmed as colorectal cancer. The demographic data and clinical data of these samples were collected systematically.

Abstract

The invention discloses plasma miRNA markers related to auxiliary diagnosis of colorectal cancer and an application of the marker. The markers may include one or more of miR-103a-3p, miR-127-3p, miR-151a-5p, miR-17-5p, miR-181a-5p, miR-18a-5p and miR-18b-5p. The plasma miRNA markers, as a novel biomarker, have good stability, are minimally-invasive, are easy to obtain and have high sensitivity andspecificity. Development and application of the biomarkers may provide diagnosis and further therapy on various diseases, including tumors, with a new direction; the invention provides the plasma miRNA markers, which have clinical diagnosis potential, for the colorectal cancer targetedly. Researching proves that these miRNAs, as non-invasive markers for diagnosis of the colorectal cancer, has reliability and repeatability.
