Benefits of technology

This patented technology allows us to extract gold from used electronic devices like computers without causing environmental damage during their disposal process. It involves treating these materials before they are discarded into landfills instead of burning them away at high cost. By adding certain chemical agents called I-123 onto this treated material, we get ridged it up on top layers of soil where other metals become trapped therein. These technical means help reduce pollution caused when dumped overboard through waterways.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patents relates to finding ways for effectively recovering valuable materials like silver or platinum from electronic devices that contain these elements without causing environmental concerns due to their harmful effects over humans' wellbeing.

Abstract

The invention provides a method for recovering gold from a printed circuit board of a waste mobile phone. The method comprises the following steps that the gold in a gold leaching liquid of the printed circuit board of the waste mobile phone is adsorbed by adopting an adsorbent so as to obtain gold-loaded carbon, wherein the adsorbent is selected from biochar or iodine-loaded biochar; and the gold-loaded carbon is subjected to desorption, and then a desorption solution is electrolyzed so as to obtain the gold. According to the method, after gold leaching is carried out on the printed circuit board of the waste mobile phone, the iodine-loaded biochar is adopted for adsorption, liquid gold is concentrated, then the gold can be recovered through electrolysis, meanwhile, the gold leaching liquid (iodine) can be recovered, so that the production cost can be lowered, and the resource utilization efficiency can be improved; modification is carried out on the biochar by using an ethanol solution of iodine so as to prepare the iodine-loaded carbon, so that the gold adsorption efficiency can be improved, and meanwhile, the utilization rate of the iodine can be increased; and the biochar prepared from agricultural waste is used for adsorbing the gold, so that the waste can be recycled, the production cost can be lowered, and the energy consumption can be reduced.
