[0043] Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.cv. Micro-Tom) seeds were soaked in warm water at 65°C to accelerate germination, and then sowed in seedling trays with a mixed substrate of vermiculite and perlite (7:1=v:v). Abstract

The invention discloses an application of melatonin to alleviation of tomato pollen abortion due to high temperature induction. The application comprises the following steps: (1) melatonin and an additive are mixed in order to prepare an aqueous solution; (2) the aqueous solution is added into nutrient solutions for plant growth or soil or sprayed on plant leaf surfaces. The melatonin preparationcan be used for rapidly and efficiently improving response of tomato pollen to high temperature stress, in order to improve expression of genes related to autophagy, high temperature stress and antioxidant enzymes, improve capability for removing active oxygen in plant bodies, and improving vitality of plant pollen; the preparation technology is simple, usage is convenient, product and environmentpollution is not produced, phytotoxicity is not generated easily, and the application has wide application prospects.
