The invention belongs to the technical field of adsorbing agents and relates to a method for preparing a carbon adsorbing material used for efficiently removing harmful ions from waste water. The method comprises the following step: on the basis of taking the soluble saccharide or furfural as a carbon source and the amino acid or compound containing sulfydryl, carboxyl or amino group as an additive, performing the hydro-thermal reaction on the carbon source and the additive at 160-220 DEG C, thereby generating the carbon solid adsorbing material. The adsorbing material can be used for processing heavy metal ions or transition metal ions in industrial effluent and domestic sewage and the processing effect is excellent. The method has the advantages that the soluble saccharide or furfural is used as a raw material for preparing the carbon solid adsorbing material, the cost of the raw material is low, the preparation process is simple, the solid adsorbing material is synthesized through one step of hydro-thermal reaction, the reaction condition is mild and controllable, and the solid adsorbing material prepared by using the method has excellent stability and contains a large amount of surface groups. The content of the surface groups can be controlled within a large scope without changing the reaction condition. The surface groups have strong interaction with the metal ions, such as sulfydryl and mercury ions, so that the carbon adsorbing material can be used for efficiently removing the harmful ions.
