Relative addressing for network elements

A relative address protocol for communicating message packets along a linear chain network or quasi-linear chain network is disclosed. The protocol includes a relative destination address field that includes a counter having a preselected initial value at a source node. The initial value is a function of the desired number of node hops that the message packet should travel from the source node. The counter is adjusted in value at each subsequent node by a preselected step in value. When the counter value reaches a trigger value the message packet is accepted by a destination node. In a preferred embodiment, a relative source address field stores the initial value so that the destination node may return a status message to the source node.

Method and apparatus for application route discovery

InactiveUS20060098586A1Accurately trace the route takenDelay can be experiencedData switching by path configurationReal-time computing
A method and system for determining a route of an application in a network. The network includes a number of interconnected nodes, between a source node and a destination node. A sequence of application packets, being transmitted over an application port, are configured to expire at each one of a succession of nodes in the application route. Upon expiration, an error notification is generated by the node according to protocol, and received back at the source node. The error notification identifies the node from which it came, and a collection of error notification identifies the entire route of nodes.

Delay-reduced stall avoidance mechanism for reordering a transport block

InactiveUS20060062223A1Reduce transmission delayAvoid procrastinationNetwork traffic/resource managementError preventionMissing dataUplink transmission
A method for implementing a stall avoidance mechanism during uplink transmission of data blocks from transmitter to a receiver includes first determining a missing data block in response to a successful receipt of a received data block at the receiver. Once the missing data block is determined, the receiver requests retransmission of the missing data block. The receiver starts a timer when the request for retransmission is made such that the timer has a time value based on the number of reception attempts of the received data block made by the receiver.

Task-related communication via wireless communication hotspots

A mobile device is used to effect task-related communication with a remote entity via the communications infrastructure of a wireless hotspot through which the mobile device is moving. The device includes a first estimation arrangement for estimating the time remaining before the mobile device leaves the coverage zone of the hotspot having regard to the predicted movement of the device. The device further includes a second estimation arrangement for estimating the time needed to complete the task-related communication. These two time estimates are compared with each other by a monitor unit of the device to determine whether there is sufficient time to complete the task-related communication.

IPv6/IPv4 translator

An object of the present invention is to realize packet communication between an IPv6 terminal connected to an IPv6 network and an IPv4 terminal connected to an IPv4 network. Another object of the present invention is to realize RTP communication for establishing sessions in accordance with SIP between an IPv6 terminal connected to an IPv6 network and an IPv4 terminal connected to an IPv4 network. For these objects, the present invention provides an IPv6/IPv4 translator for translating packets between IPv6 and IPv4 with means of translating addresses described in SIP messages into IPv6 addresses or IPv4 addresses. Moreover, the present invention provides the aforementioned IPv6/IPv4 translator with means of translating addresses described in SDP messages into IPv6 addresses or IPv4 addresses. These SDP messages shall be related to media data transmissions. Furthermore, the IPv6/IPv4 translator can be directly connected to a terminal connected to an IPv6 network and to a terminal connected to an IPv4 network, or can be connected via SIP proxy to an SIP terminal connected to an IPv6 network and to an SIP terminal connected to an IPv4 network. According to the present invention, the IPv6/IPv4 translator translates addresses described in SIP messages into IPv6 addresses or IPv4 addresses when translating packets from IPv6 to IPv4 or from IPv4 to IPv6. Therefore, it will be possible to perform communication from a terminal supporting IPv6 only to a terminal supporting IPv4 only. Also, it will be possible to perform communication from a terminal supporting IPv4 only to a terminal supporting IPv6 only. In addition, the IPv6/IPv4 translator translates addresses described in SDP messages into IPv6 addresses or IPv4 addresses when translating packets from IPv6 to IPv4 or from IPv4 to IPv6. Therefore, it will be possible to perform RTP communication for establishing sessions in accordance with SIP from IPv6 to IPv4 or conversely from IPv4 to IPv6, which is suitable for media data transmissions such as IP phone services.

Method and system for transmitting real time flow media based on video frequency frame splitting

ActiveCN101207809ARealize adaptive adjustmentReduce loadData switching by path configurationTelevision systemsTelecommunicationsMedia server
A real-time stream media transmission method based on the video frame split includes the following steps: (1) the stream media server is controlled to explore the whole topological structure of the P2P equivalent internet and gain the whole information of receiver nodes in the equivalent internet; (2) the original video data is captured and compressed; (3) each split video frame is numbered in sequence, and a time-stamp and frame type mark is add to package; (4) the video frame is transmitted; (5) a receiver creates a time-limited buffer area to receive the video frame and saves the video frame in the buffer area in the sequence of the time-stamp; (6) the video frame in the time-limited buffer area is verified and adjusted; (7) the receiver decompresses and plays. And a system is formed by a real-time media transmission method. The invention can support a plurality of video compression method and make a fine particle size split on the base of video compression frame level, the video frame after splitting transmits independently in the topological structure of the P2P equivalent internet, and the video frame rate can be adjusted dynamically in net-speed.

Methods And Apparatus For Use In Forwarding Short Messages For Mobile Communication Devices

In one illustrative example, when a message forwarding function is enabled for a mobile communication device which operates in a wireless communication network, an address (e.g. an MSISDN) of the mobile device is assigned to “virtual mobile equipment” in the wireless network. The equipment registers with the wireless network with respect to the address, and stores an association in memory between the address and an alternate address of an alternate communication device. Subsequently, the equipment receives a short message having a destination address that matches the address. In response, the equipment forwards the short message to the alternate address for delivery to the alternate device (e.g. a mobile or server) based on the stored association. When the message forwarding function is disabled for and / or by the mobile device, the address of the mobile device is deassigned from the equipment, so that the mobile device is again able to receive short messages having destination addresses that match the address.

Method for securing special line user access network

ActiveCN101483676ASolve many problems for dedicated line usersDynamically generate binding relationshipsData switching by path configurationAccess networkIp address
A method of ensuring individual line subscriber to get on the Internet pre-configures configuration information aiming at DHCP optional information on DHCP server supporting DHCP optional function; the DHCP message sent by user is added with the DHCP optional information after passing through the access apparatus and then transmitted to the DHCP server; the DHCP server searches the matched configuring information according to the received optional information in DPCH message and returns the corresponding configuring information to the access apparatus by response message, and backfills the optional information in the response message; the access apparatus obtains the configuring information of the user by the response message and utilizes the configuring information to generate dynamic binding relationship to the user terminal. The invention conquers the problem the static IP address binding function used in the prior art is difficult for being managed, has large configuration workload and the IP address is easy to be stolen; the invention can simplify the configuration and is convenient for management and increases the safety of IP address.
