Adaptive device-initiated polling

A method includes periodically sending a polling call to an enterprise system outside the firewall at a first polling rate during normal operating conditions, monitoring for a fault condition, periodically sending polling calls to the device outside the firewall at a second polling rate when a fault condition is detected, the second polling rate being higher than the first polling rate. The second polling rate is used as result of a fault condition. The method also includes sending a problem report with the polling calls when the fault condition is detected.

Automatic color adjustment of a template design

ActiveUS7262778B1Image analysisTexturing/coloringComputer graphics (images)Template design
The present invention generates a color template design. According to one aspect, a source image is selected. A histogram is generated for the selected source image. Colors are suggested automatically for the generated histogram. At least one of the suggested colors is selected by the user to serve as the color for a selected template design.

System and method for monitoring program code

A method, apparatus, and system are provided for monitoring of system resources. According to one embodiment, a monitor server may be used to monitor system resources, to collect monitoring data associated with the resources, and to provide the monitoring data to a destination. The monitor server may include a Java Management Extensions (JMX)-based monitor server. Further, a managed bean server having a registry of managed beans may be coupled with the monitor server to facilitate the monitor server to monitor the resources.

Method of Sending A Photograph Electronically from A Self-Service Digital Photograph Processing Station To A Remote Printing Facility

A system and method for a self-service digital photograph processing station user to send data representative of a photographic image to a photograph printing facility located in or near a geographic region remote from the self-service digital photograph processing station, but near an intended recipient of the photographic image. The method includes entering at least a portion of the intended recipients telephone number, which may include the area code and exchange number. An augmented map is displayed showing a map of the geographic area that corresponds with the area code and exchange number, and one or more available photograph printing facilities superimposed on the map. One or more of the available photograph printing facilities are selected and sent the data representative of the photographic image. The intended recipient may then pick up the photograph image after it is printed by the selected photograph printing facility.

Image encryption for print-and-scan channels using pixel position permutation

An image encryption method that includes receiving image data based on an image, wherein the image data comprises a plurality of pixel values, and permuting a plurality of, and preferably all of, the pixel values using at least a secret key to create permuted image data. Also, an image decryption method that includes scanning a printed image to create scanned image data. The printed image is generated from permuted image data that is generated by permuting a plurality of first pixel values of first image data using at least a secret key, obtaining a plurality of second pixel values from the scanned image data, and reverse-permuting a plurality of the second pixel values using at least the secret key to create reverse-permuted scanned image data.

Method for converting the coordinates of image data by way of random offset of the picture elements

InactiveUS6931163B1No disturbing patternsAvoid disadvantagesGeometric image transformationCharacter and pattern recognitionTransformation equationComputer graphics (images)
In a method for converting the coordinates of image data, the positions of new picture elements in a new coordinate system are calculated by means of coordinate transformation equations from the positions of initial picture elements in an initial coordinate system. The positions of the new picture elements are randomly modified in a variation range around the positions calculated by way of the coordinate transformation. For this purpose, random values are added to the calculated coordinates of the new picture elements. The method can be used in case of scale conversions, image rotation, etc. to improve the quality of the converted image. The method avoids both the corruption of the image structures caused by coordinate conversion and the formation of disruptive moire patterns. The method can be combined with known methods for calculating the color values of the new picture elements, such as the nearest-neighbor method or the interpolation method.
